They’re Horrible!

Finished my Penny’s “Horrible” Wrist Warmers yesterday.  They were inspired by the wrist warmers that the character Penny wears in the online 3-act musical, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”.

Created by Joss Whedon and co. during the writers strike, it is pure genius that everyone should buy on iTunes.  I’ve had some of the songs stuck in my head since they first went live.

Anyway, the wrist warmers were a bit of a pain in the ass to knit, because I generally try to avoid things like stripes and multi-yarn projects.  I frogged the first one three times, but now that they’re finished, I absolutely love them.  BigSis and LittleSis both want a pair now, but they’ll have to wait a couple days; I still have baby knitting to finish!

Today I experienced a perfect example of government idiocy at work.  Back in the first week of June I did an address change for my driver’s licence.  I did it through the website and it looked like it worked.  I’ve been waiting since then for my new card to arrive in the mail, and getting more and more worried as the rest of the family received new cards and mine was still off in limbo.  I called the Ministry last week and the woman was nice enough – she assured me that the address change had worked and that I should expect the card soon.  Good news, right?  Unfortunately, that relieved feeling didn’t last very long.  Today I got a letter stating that they weren’t happy with my old picture and signature, and I needed to actually come in and redo them.  What?!?  The same photo and signature on my current card isn’t good enough anymore?  I called the Ministry and apparently, they said my new card printed out funny and that my signature and picture wasn’t good enough for their fancy new cards.  Why couldn’t that woman just tell me that last week?  Surely something was noted on my file.  Just my luck.  The rest of my family had no problems, but mine was substandard.  So I went and stood in line for over an hour today for my new picture.  The only bright side I can think of is that my new card will have my pretty new haircut!

A lighter head.

Well, I did it.  I hacked it all off.  I actually gave a picture of Keri Russell with the haircut to the stylist and she did a great job.  Except for the styling part – why are stylists always obsessed with hair dryers?  You put my head near one of those things and my hair explodes.  I always end up walking away with HUGE hair.  Ugh.  I fixed it though – nothing some water and mousse couldn’t fix.  I love my new haircut…

Drastic.

I’ve been thinking about getting my hair cut.  Short.  As in Felicity season two short.  I just don’t have the patience for long hair…

Poor poor MacBook.

A few days ago, the unthinkable happened – my computer rolled over and died.  A complete brick.  So naturally, I panicked and called Apple Care.  The guy was nice, but useless, so I went to see an Apple genius in person.  The verdict?  My hard drive is fried and I lost everything.  What a nightmare.  They switched it out, no problem, but I’ve spent all my time since then trying to rebuild what I lost.  Now I’m paranoid.  Multiple back-ups are my friend…
