I’m on a roll!

I’ve finished another knitting project! Yay! It feels so good to be knitting again. This is a mug cozy I knit for C at work. She saw a picture of it on a Second Cup gift card and I couldn’t resist trying to recreate it myself. It turned out pretty well and I’m thinking of writing down my on-the-fly pattern and making a few more.

What is the number one killer of women? Breast cancer? Nope, not even close – it’s actually heart disease. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in Canada for women over the age of 55. Women are more likely to die from heart disease than from any other disease. So few people know that, and I find it incredibly frustrating. I’ve heard more than a few commercials on the radio today, asking for funding for breast cancer research. But what about the silent killer that is the bigger risk? I’m fed up. February is heart month; read the literature, put away the pink trinkets and donate to an organization that is devoted to heart and stroke research. Help yourself ladies; this is incredibly important.

Lunar eclipse.

Last night, with camera and tripod in hand, I braved the elements and watched the lunar eclipse. My camera is pretty basic so the pictures aren’t very clear, but I had fun nonetheless. The funny thing is, about halfway through totality, a bunch of dogs in my neighbourhood started howling. Not barking, howling. The moon does funny things…

It’s done!

For the first time in quite awhile, I’ve finished a knitting project. These last few months have been so crazy (due to school) and my knitting has fallen by the wayside because of it. So I’m actually quite thrilled to have finally finished something. And the fact that it’s absolutely adorable is just the icing on the cake. Or cupcake. I just finished the cutest cupcake hat for little M. C asked me to make one based on a picture, I googled for a pattern and voila – fuzzy pink cuteness. I’ve got the knitting bug again – what to make next?

The talking house.

Apparently, our house talks.  There’s a sign on the lawn telling you to tune into a certain radio station, and when you do, there’s this woman’s voice extolling the many lovely features of our humble abode.  It’s weird, but who knows, maybe it’ll help sell the damn thing.
