Hiccups.

I have had the hiccups off and on for four days now and it’s driving me absolutely batty. Do you know how hard it is to fall asleep while hiccupping?! And it’s annoying as hell when it happens at work, although my customers get a good laugh at my expense. I would do anything for a cure, because the usual tricks aren’t working. According to Guinness, some guy in the States had the hiccups for 68 years – I feel for the guy!

Saying a prayer.

I got some really sad news today – one of my first-year teachers passed away last week after a short fight with cancer.  She was a tough teacher but she was also a really nice woman.  It’s strange, but I can still hear her laugh in my head…

Please say a prayer for D and her family.

‘Tis the season.

Santa came to the store today.  Of course, he wasn’t wearing the red suit, but he had the beard and the jolly laugh.  After paying for his things, he looked out at the snowstorm and said, “I think I’m going to need my reindeer to get home in this!”  And then he walked out the door.  That made my day.

The fake baby.

So, today LittleBro brought home a squalling rubber and plastic baby. Isn’t parenting class fun? It’s one of those electronic things that track how fast he responds to its needs and whether he ever drop kicks the thing in frustration. I think he’s pretty close to reaching that point; it has wailed at least a dozen times since he got home. I remember the good ol’ days of high school parenting class in the nineties; find a baby-sized doll, rip its guts out, add rice and various metal objects to make it heavy, carry it around for a few days and dump it in your locker at night. That was great!
