Happy Halloween!

Right now, I’m handing out candy to the neighbourhood kids. We usually don’t get many young ones anymore; our area has grown up a bit, but I think that’s starting to change. They all seem so young this time around, and there’s more of them.

I like handing out candy. I’m not the type of person who wants to go party, and I’ve definitely outgrown the door-to-door, but I’ve always liked handing out the goodies. I like seeing all the different costumes; some of the kids are so adorable! This one little girl, no more than 3-years-old, was dressed as a princess; she looked so cute! I guess you could say that I like to people watch. I’ve been having a good laugh watching all the dads hang out on the sidewalk as their kids run around; some of them look annoyed just to be there. I have yet to see a dad wearing a costume…

I love the high school equivalent of a costume; street clothes and some face paint. Or a mask. I give them candy anyway, at least they’re having some safe and legal fun!

OMG, a kid just came by with glasses, a curly wig and a ‘Vote for Pedro’ t-shirt – I love it!!

It’s starting to slow down. I have a test tomorrow that I really need to study for, so I guess it’s time to close up shop. It was fun.

Happy Halloween!

Leopard is here!

On a bit of a whim, I decided to go to the Leopard release ‘party’ at the Apple Store on Friday. They were offering free t-shirts, so I thought, why not? I got there about an hour before they were set to start, and holy crap, the lineup was huge! To kill some time I decided to watch ‘Reaper’ on my iPod Nano. It’s a great show – check it out. The Apple employees were kind of wacky. They were running up and down the line, screaming and cheering, trying to add some energy. They were also handing out free water, which was nice. By the time 6 o’clock rolled around, there was just as much lineup behind me, which blew me away. I mean, this was all just for an operating system! I wonder how many people were there just for the free t-shirts… Anyways, I was having a ball, just watching the crowd. There were the obvious bloggers, running around with their cameras and being chased by security, and more than a couple die-hards playing with their MacBooks while they waited. I even saw someone with their face painted – I kid you not. The whole thing was hilarious; the Apple employees would cheer and clap for each new group of people allowed into the store. I got my free t-shirt (which is pretty good quality) and the family pack. I didn’t even have to pay at the register; an Apple guy ran up to me with a PDA and rang up my purchase right there. That was cool. When I got home, BigSis installed Leopard on my pooter and I’ve spent the last couple days playing with all the new funky features. It’s a bit glitchy, which doesn’t surprise me because it’s so new, but overall I think that it was totally worth it. I love my Mac.

A strange dream.

I keep having this strange dream. I’m driving and my brakes don’t work. I’m pressing down on the pedal as hard as I can, and I’m still rolling forward. The strange part is that the car is barely rolling, and I’m not in any danger. I always wake up when I finally hit something. I dunno, maybe it’s a stress thing.

The usual stress.

Nothing really special going on right now, I’m just feeling a bit buried at the moment. In an effort to promote teamwork, an essential in nursing, my school has decided to assign an overabundance of group presentations and papers. I have nothing against group work. Sometimes it can turn out quite well and it’s a good way to get to know your classmates. The problem I have is with the volume of group projects this semester. Finding time to work on these assignments with 3 to 7 other people can get really complicated. I also have a math test coming up, where a 100% is a pass. I have to admit, that one has my gut churning. I’m writing it next Tuesday, and I’ll be so glad when it’s over…

In an effort to cheer myself up, I’m posting a pic of a shmoo. Don’t know what that is? Shame! Read this!
